Committee Meetings Rescheduled

The committee meetings originally scheduled for Wednesday, January 26 will be moved to Wednesday, February 2 due to the snow days last week. They will still be held in the English area. Any member is allowed to join one or more of the committees, so hope to see many there.

Committee Meetings

Attention anyone who has signed up for or wishes to become a member of the Tutoring, Fundraising, or Book Club Committees: there will be an after school meeting in the English area to discuss future plans with each committee and to establish leadership roles. Involvement in the committees is extremely encouraged and open to all NEHS members.

The meetings will be on Wednesday, January 26 and should last no longer than 3:00.

You should come if you are interested in any or all of the committees.

January Meeting

The next meeting will be held on January 24th. Many important details will be discussed, so please plan to attend.

December Fundraiser

We have time slots at Borders on Monday, December 13th and Tuesday, December 14th from 4pm-9pm for book wrapping. We need members to help participate. You do not have to stay the entire time, but someone must be present to wrap.

At least four students and one adult over the age of 21 must be present at all times.

Also, don't forget, our next meeting is in the cafeteria after school on Monday, December 13th.

December Meeting

As a reminder, the next NEHS meeting will be held on December 13th after school in the cafeteria. If you were not present at the October 25th induction, you will receive your membership items at this meeting. The meeting will also include the presentation of the certificate to the Smith family, so be sure to attend.

Also, all meeting dates for the 2010-2011 school year are posted on the sidebar. Be sure to plan ahead to attend them.

Scholarship Opportunites

The NEHS currently offers a "common reader" scholarship. Students must read Enrique's Journey by Sonia Nazario and sent in a response to one of the four given prompts. Essays are to be submitted between December 1, 2010 and February 1, 2011. More details about this scholarship may be found here.

Many other scholarships are available. Be sure to check the NEHS bulletin board in the English common area for all opportunities.
